MY FAVOURITE TECHNIQUES TO CREATE ARTWORKS
I choose to use the following traditional Japanese techniques:
For cores:
– To make the traditional preparation with minimum 16-20 layers of the ground of the lacquer-layers (sta-, naka-, ue-nuri), on wood, on shaped dry-lacquer (kanshitsu).
– To combine the polished natural pattern of shark- and ray-skin with the shine of lacquer (same-nuri)
My speciality to make cores:
– Lacquered mammal leather (shippi),
– Lacquered woven horsehair (uma-no ke)
For ornaments:
– Coloured lacquered layers (iroi-nuri),
– Inlay of Mother of Pearls (raden),
– Sprinkled ornaments with gold- and silver dust on lacquered surface (maki-e)
My speciality to make decorations:
– Sprinkled gold- and silver-dust sprinklingon horsehair (umanoke no gin- to gin-makie)
– Inlay of exoskeleton of beetles.
